Operations Engineer Wind

  • Hybrid
    • Halle, Vlaams Gewest, Belgium
  • GRID Solutions

Job description

At Virya Grid Solutions, we develop renewable energy projects from initial concept through construction and into operations. Our team takes a thoughtful approach to project development, creating onshore wind farms and ground-mounted solar installations designed for maximum impact and community benefit. With over two decades of experience in renewables, we have the expertise to turn ambitious clean energy projects into reality.

Being part of Virya Energy means you'll work within a larger ecosystem of energy transition specialists. While Grid Solutions concentrates on utility-scale renewables, you'll be connected to colleagues across hydrogen development, energy distribution, and other sustainable energy initiatives—giving you the opportunity to contribute to a comprehensive energy transition.

As an Operations Engineer, you will be responsible for the management, operation, and follow-up of a portfolio of renewable energy assets (EnR) in their operational phase. Working closely with a small, skilled team within the Asset Management department, you will play a key role in maximizing production while ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, and budgetary control.

This hybrid role involves both office-based and on-site work.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Monitor asset performance using existing or custom KPIs, and identify opportunities for optimization

  • Drive continuous improvement in reliability, safety, and operational performance

  • Coordinate with service providers and ensure contractual and regulatory obligations are met

  • Manage operational budgets and provide clear reporting to internal and external stakeholders

  • Conduct regular on-site visits and support maintenance activities

  • Implement loss recovery plans and support insurance claims follow-up

  • Ensure full compliance with industrial safety and environmental regulations

  • Support O&M planning for development and repowering projects

  • Contribute to local stakeholder communication efforts

Job requirements

  • You hold a degree in Engineering (General, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Environmental); an additional qualification in project management is a strong asset

  • You have at least 2 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the energy sector or IPP

  • You have a solid background in contract management and enjoy negotiating with various stakeholders

  • You are highly interested in both the technical and financial performance of projects

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are among your key strengths

  • Familiarity with maintenance operations in power infrastructure is a plus

  • You are fluent in Dutch and English, both written and spoken (mandatory for this role)

  • You are comfortable with IT tools and data applications, especially Excel, Power BI, and Power Platform

  • A valid driving license (Category B) is required

  • This role involves occasional field visits and travel

What we offer:

  • A full-time position within a fast-growing and leading company in renewable energy.

  • An impactful role where your entrepreneurship, initiative, and sales skills define success.

  • An attractive benefits package, including a green company car, meal vouchers, mobile phone, group insurance, and hospitalization insurance for you and your family.

  • Hybride position: you will be working from our offices in Halle and Braine-l’Alleud+home-office.
